Yesterday at lunch, a colleague told me that he had heard about a photomarathon in Houston. People show up and receive assignments that they must go out and photograph within a set time frame. Sounded intriguing, but when I got home I promptly forgot about it and took a nap. But later yesterday afternoon I ran across the link and found out it was happening today. I jumped right on it.
This will be good for me in several ways. First, I planned on heading downtown today anyway to shoot, so that takes care of that. Second, they have two more assignments scheduled in the Houston area, so I can scout it out for Houston Photobloggers and see if it is something I want to promote. Third, I know downtown pretty well, or at least I think I do, so it will be fun to put those skills to work. Finally, this IS going to push me because I tend to be very literal when it comes to themes. If a theme is love, I'd be looking around for a heart. I have a feeling I'm going to need to be more creative than that.
There are four different themes and I am going to have a total of 5 hours. I'm not sure if I'm getting all the themes at once or after I turn in one, I receive the next one. I'm taking my laptop, but again I'm not sure if I'm going to have any time to post process. There is going to be a lot of thinking on my feet, but I actually feel awake this morning, so bring it on.
I'll be updating Twitter as I go, so you can follow me at my Twitter page or at the top left hand corner of this blog page. Off to pack up my camera and computer bag.
