Onesome: At-- the head of the line for the iPhones, were you? No? What do you think of all the hoopla. ...and the continuing hype? Just curious...
Head of the line? No. At the Apple store to revel in the release atmosphere? Yes. It was a lot of fun to see Apple getting so much hype and hype that Apple themselves weren't really pushing. This kind of took on a life of its own and every one ran with it. It's like the 1984 commercial that ran a total of 2 times. (Most people say once during the Super Bowl, but it actually ran twice so it could be eligible for a Clio.) After the Super Bowl, new stations aired the commercial over and over and newspapers and magazines did stories. Lots of free publicity for Apple.
As far as an iPhone. I really didn't want one even after I watched the keynote in January. I'm not that heavy a phone user and I don't have the type of job where I need to access my email 24 hours a day. BUT after actually watching the videos and reading the reviews the week before the release, I want one. It does so many incredibly cool things and since I do have an internet addiction it would be very cool to be connected anywhere.
In fact I was going to give myself one as an award for going through some dental work that I need to do the next few months (long story.... short hand is: terrified of dentist, haven't been in years, finally went but chose one off my network because they were very understanding of my phobia and the networked ones were all so brusque, I'm paying out of pocket, need to get some things done after years of not going) but I realized that I can't get one until I get a new computer. I have an original 12" Powerbook and it was one of the last computers Apple made without USB 2.0. SO I have to save up for a new computer AND an iPhone after I pay off my dental stuff. But that's ok because it will let people shake out the problems in Version 1.0.
And for future reference? Never ask a Mac fan for her opinion on Apple things unless you want to read a lot. :-)
Twosome: Long-- roads to forever... Do you have a favorite road/trail/path you like to travel just for the scenery?
Anything by the water. If there is a path or road that goes by a lake, river or ocean, I'll take it.
Threesome: Last-- year did you think you'd be doing what you ended up doing for the holiday yesterday? ...or did plans change a bit?
NO! You can read more in my previous post, but I usually sit at home alone by myself on holidays. Actually last year I was packing to move into this apartment so it was understandable last year. This year I decided to go to the barbecue (actually my friend called me and shamed me into it) and I had a great time. I haven't had a barbecued hamburger in a LONG time and we even had S'mores. It was a really nice day.
