MP5: Phoenicia

Today was solo contest for my students. It was good and bad. We had a number of students that we either had to drop because they weren't ready or that didn't show up today. That's bad. The good is that 40 out of the 45 students that went brought home medals.

My co-worker and I went to breakfast to celebrate (although it was already lunch time) and after she took me to Phoenicia. We first heard about this place at the Menu of Menus event we attended at the Houston Museum of Natural Science last April. Phoenicia is a specialty food market and it is quite an experience. The shelves are stocked full of imported foods from around the world. I had a lot of fun looking at all the labels and seeing all the interesting things that were for sale. I'm not sure why, but I love places like this even though I don't cook and I am NOT an adventurous eater. I took a number of pictures which you can see here including a photo of my purchases.

This is a reflection in one of the teapots that was for sale. You can see my co-worker in the corner of the photo. It is fun to try to find creative ways to take reflection shots. I'm glad I started this project. And hopefully I won't care so much about what I look like. I certainly look worn and tired in this shot.
