I want to make a list like Ms. Louisa's (1, 2) about all the fabulous things that I want to have happen in my life, but all I can think of are plain, ordinary pedestrian things. Of course my life compared to hers IS plain, ordinary and pedestrian so that may be it. I don't have the imagination to come up with these amazing creative goals and it is hard to imagine 1 year out, let alone 5 or 10. I definitely can't imagine myself doing anything exotic, but I've decided to try to list a few things I'd like to do by my next birthday. These are some things that I have been thinking about or have wanted to do anyway, so maybe writing them down will help.
1.) Pay off my credit card - I have a lot of life plans including moving into town and visiting Randy in London and they hinge on getting my credit card paid off. I'm hoping to have it paid off by Christmas, but it may take a little longer than that. Definitely should make it by next April.
2.) Buy a new camera body - Not on the credit card of course! Either an XSi (which will probably fit my hands better) or a 40D (because I'm swayed by everyone saying its "better")
3.) Sell a photograph
4.) Enter at least 5 "call for entries" - I download entry forms and they sit on my hard drive and then I miss a deadline just sitting on them.
5.) Take a photography class - Some where, some way
6.) Participate in at least 3 5K fun walks - I could probably do one now, but I'd be exhausted at the end. I hope to work up to being able to do them on a regular basis. Which I guess means I should go walking after I write this post!
7.) Go on a date - I'm actually doing things that are getting in the way of this (I think) so I'm going to try to stop doing those things (I think)
8.) Take some road trips around Texas - I want to travel more and since I don't have the money to travel the country (and can't stay away from kitty that long) I want to start with a few area trips.
9.) Grow my viewership on my photoblog by 100%. My viewership is pretty low over there and I'd like to see if I can double it in the next year. I have no idea how I'm going to do that.
10.) Ride a bike - I haven't done that since I was a kid. I don't live in a bike friendly part of town, so I'm not sure how I'm going to do this one either, but I used to love it.
11.) Go out shooting with someone new every few months. Develop those one on one relationships where I do much better than the group dynamic.
Well.. 11 is my favorite number so I'm going to stop there for now. See? Told you they were boring. There's a couple more I could steal from Ms. Louisa like making my home a great place to come home to, keeping plants alive longer than a month, or to go sailing.
UPDATE: I'm adding one. When a decision comes between a safe choice and an out on a limb choice, I'm going to go out on a limb. Take chances. Seize the day. A quote I heard recently that I totally love is from Eleanor Roosevelt: "Do one thing every day that scares you." I'm going to make that my motto for year #36.
