I thought I would do a quick post to check in with my New Year's Resolutions. How am I doing so far? Not so great, but you could have guessed that right?
1.) Drink Water - This one has been a miserable failure. Miserable. And that is bad especially considering that I was sick for a large part of January. Most of the time it was slightly under the weather. Just enough to be annoying and slow me down. I have no doubt that I could have benefited from being well hydrated. I'm not sure what I'm going to do to get this one going. I don't mind my tap water at home so I just need to get in the habit of drinking more of it. The water at work is another story. I'm not sure if it is the municipality or the water pipes in the building but it is not great. I hate the idea though of going through lots of bottles of water so I just don't drink. I have a long way to go on this one.
2.) Slow Down (When I'm Eating) - I am sometimes aware of this one and when I think of it I slow down. I've been bad though the last couple of weeks and haven't taken my lunch to work. Once I have to go out to get my meal then it narrows the amount of time I have to eat and causes me to eat fast. I think by the end of the year this one will be ingrained. It is just going to take time to make it a habit.
3.) Eye Contact - I have been the most aware of this one especially when I have been out in public. It isn't easy, but this one gets the most practice.
4.) Travel - This one was broken into three categories. Fear, Money and Mindset. The fear will have to wait until I'm actually on the plane. There is not a lot I can do ahead of time. Money. I have not been doing well in this category. I thought I was doing really great, but logged into my account last night and found out otherwise. Part of this is linked back to not feeling well and blowing things off like grocery shopping and cooking. Eating out all the time takes money. I've adjusted the categories in my iPhone app and am going to try again. Mindset. This category has made the most progress. I've picked a destination (yay!). And not only am I going to Chicago, but I'm hopefully going to Panama in November. And I have it in the back of my mind to drive somewhere at least for one night during Spring Break. Now if only I could get my money to supply the new mindset.
Well that's the one month(ish) check in. I am, as always, a work in progress.
