I am weird for a music teacher. I don't listen to music outside my job. I don't listen to it in the car. I don't listen to it in my home. On my way to and from a broadway show I'll listen to the soundtrack and occasionally on a road trip I'll listen to an album to add some variety, but generally in the car I listen to podcasts and at home I listen to the television.
I haven't thought too much about the reasons why, but one pet theory I have is that songs get too easily stuck in my head. I know songs get stuck in everyone's head, but when they are stuck in my head it is for days and days upon end and it is annoying.
I finally decided to look up songs stuck in my head on the internet and found this sentence from the How Stuff Works article:
[Researcher] says women, musicians and people who are neurotic, tired or stressed are most prone to earworm attacks.
Um, wow I am ALL of those things all the time. So I guess that explains it. Here is my current torture.
