Trying very hard not to be chicken little about the fact that Six Apart, the company that owns Typepad which is what I use for this blog, is merging with another company. The language in their press release and blog post today say they are continuing to support Typepad, but there is something strange in the wording. Or it could just be my imagination.
I have been on Typepad with one site or another since 2004. This particular blog has 4 years worth of archives. Typepad works for me and I like it. I have tried numerous times to use Wordpress, the darling blogging platform of the "in" crowd, to no avail. I don't like it.
So I'll cross my fingers that the sky isn't falling and that I won't have to go to another change any time soon. We all found out recently how well I react to change.
UPDATE: Ok this morning it is not my imagination. The president of the newly merged company Say Media said the following on AdWeek:
"Say Media expects to lose some subscribers to the Six Apart blogging platform. Its main focus, Young said, is in those that hope to build media businesses, rather than regular people who write a blog for fun."
Sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh. I will cry if I have to leave Typepad.
