Every year. Every dang year, whether I take precautions or none at all, I get horribly sick at the beginning of the school year. Some years it just wipes out my Labor Day weekend and I fight through it. Other years I fall so far it develops into a sinus infection.
This year was a new one for me. I think I was actually slowing down weeks before I realized it. I finally gave in and went to one of those drug store clinics on Monday. The doctor confirmed I was on the cusp of a big crash and prescribed antibiotics. Been there, done that. I took Tuesday off to give myself a chance to get back on my feet.
But I felt only marginally better by the end of the day Tuesday, and then Wednesday hit. I had a serious bout of…. “digestive issues.” It didn’t matter what I ate or drank… everything ran straight through. Normally this isn’t a big issue but it continued to Thursday and Friday and I was convinced it was the antibiotic and I was still looking at 6 more days of medication. I returned to the clinic Friday afternoon but was told that I was past the level of what they could treat and I needed to go to an Urgent Care Clinic.
Well, I am a giant “anything medical” scaredy cat and I freaked, but I went. The Boyfriend met me there and eased my fear and made me laugh. The doctor was super nice and agreed with my guess that my body was having an adverse reaction to the antibiotic. New medication and home.
Suffice it to say I am doing much better. I still feel really tired, but I finally feel like I have a chance to recover. And maybe even blog more than once a week.
